Rajini and Shankar to co-produce Robot

Times of India reports that Rajini and Shankar are likely to co-produce Robot.  This news makes sense since Rajini’s and Shankar’s remuneration will be a big piece in the total budget of 120 crores.

This report also adds that Aishwarya Rai is being approached  to pair opposite Rajini. It appears Shankar was in Mumbai recently to discuss  with her and she has not made up her mind yet.

Big B in Robot?

We have not heard anything in the industry circles if Big B will play a role or not. But we are betting he will. Here’s why.

There has been concerted efforts to make Big B play a part in Tamil movies for a while. Years ago Kamal and K.S.Ravikumar were planning to make a movie. The movie was titled ‘Naran’. Loosely based on Rob Schneider’s The Animal, the movie was about how a mad scientist rescues an injured guy and fixes him up by using animal’s organs. This guy eventually gets better however he develops animal’s qualities. He starts behaving like a different animal everyday. In this outrageous comedy, the mad scientist plays a big role. Kamal wanted Big B to play the mad scientist character. Despite prolonged negotiations, Big B didnt show much interest in that concept. Ultimately KSR and Kamal shelved that project and made Panchathanthiram.

When Sivaji was announced, Shankar wanted Big B to play the role that Raghuvaran did. This time too, Big B had his own reasons to reject the role.

Robot script has a scientist that plays a key role in the movie. I think only Big B can add dignity to that role. After delivering few flops one after another, Amitabh is now reduced to super star of adverstising films. This may be his last chance to add his name to tamil movie history. Lets wait and see if third time proves to be lucky for him.
