Kuselan’s music is by G.V.Prakash
It was sort of a surprise for many. G.V.Prakash has been chosen to do the music for Kuselan. Many expected Vidyasagar to be roped in, because his songs were a big plus for the team’s last collaboration Chandramukhi. He has been consistently giving quality music which turn out to be moderate hits. It was briefly rumored that Deva would do the score although it later turn out to be just rumors. Finally the hot and happening G.V.Prakash’s name has been announced and in fact Vasu and Prakash have been busy shortlisting situations and tunes for the movie.

We predict a big future for G.V.Prakash. He is no one movie wonder. Movie after movie he is proving that he has what it takes. Sure he is no Ilayaraja or A.R.Rehman, but he works very hard to stand out in the crowd. One of his recently releases I personally liked was Polladhavan. Be it a quiet melody “Minnalgal Koothadum” or the rap remix of “Engeyum Eppothum” or the unavoidable kuthu song “Padichu Parthen” or foot tapping number “Alibaba Thangam”, G.V.Prakash has shown an excellent variety while being trendy.
We wish him good luck for his future and a special one for Kuselan.

Robot first, Baby next says Ash
Two days ago an internet magazine claimed that Aishwariya walked out of Robot since she is planning to have a baby by the year end. This created a minor flutter among many. When we probed the matter further we came to know that there is no basis for this rumor. However we waited for the dust to settle down and some kind of official announcement on this matter.
Speaking with reporters yesterday Ash said that it is only a rumor and that she and Abhishek are not planning to have kids at least for the next three years and their main focus until then would be their respective careers. She further said that she read the Robot script and she is extremely excited to be part of it. Speaking about Rajini, she said she has always been looking forward to act with Rajini and it has materialized after a long time.
Who would be crazy enough to walk away from six crores, huh?

Is Kuselan storyline being changed?
Some vernacular media reported today that P.Vasu is making heavy changes in the screenplay of the movie to suit Rajini’s image and his massive fan base. These magazines further reported that Rajini is not quite happy about these changes and that is one of the reasons the commencement of the movie is delayed. It may be recalled that the movie was supposed to go to floors today, the 15th of February.
In the original movie Mamooty comes in only few scenes and still made a lasting impact on the movie. One of the main reasons why Rajini liked the movie was its storyline and its simple treatment. Rajini seems to be concerned that any major changes to the script might rob the soul of the movie.
Reacting to the news reports P.Vasu said he is indeed making changes to the script and he wants to make a Rajini movie not a movie where Rajini plays a guest role. He said that although Rajini was initially apprehensive about it, now he is clearly convinced. However the script is not finalized and once it is finalized the shooting will commence only after obtaining Rajini’s approval, said P.Vasu.
There are also other industry reports that suggest that Aiyngaran is keen in starting the work on Robot earlier than planned. If that news is true, it is going to cause a conflict with Kuselan’s schedule for sure. Lets see how both the teams work it out.

Vivek in Kuselan
News sources confirmed that Vivek has been roped in for Kuselan. This news comes in as a surprise for many including us. We were hoping that this movie will repeat the unforgettable moments of Rajini-Vadivelu combo from their earlier venture Chandramukhi. Moreover Kuselan is a movie with a rural background; so we thought Vadivelu would make a better companion than Vivek. However it comes as a surprise that Vivek is indeed the chosen one.

Why Vivek was chosen? There are atleast two versions of the story doing the rounds. The first one is the box office disaster that Vadivelu’s Indiralogathil… is going through. In the other version of the story, Rajini seems to be more than impressed with Vivek’s contribution to Sivaji’s success. So he felt Vivek would bring in more value to Kuselan than Vadivelu.
Vivek was fantastic in Sivaji. We are sure he would bring the same magic to Kuselan as well. Congratulations Vivek!

SRK’s revenge on Rajini!
Having lost Robot to Rajini, Shahrukh Khan decides to get even with the Super Star. Katha Parayumbol is being remade in Hindi and Shahrukh plays the role that Rajini plays in Tamil. Ok, we are only joking. It is perhaps just a coincidence.

Priyadarshan is popularly known as remake specialist of Hindi Cinema. He usually buys the rights of successful Tamil/Malayalam movies and adapts the screenplay to suit Hindi audience. Some of his notable remakes are Rajini’s Chandramuki and Kamal’s Devar Magan.
Shahrukh’s Red Chillies Entertainment will be producing this yet unnamed movie. Remaining cast have not been decided.

Not Simran, not Tabu, it is Meena in Kuselan!
After going back and forth between Simran and Tabu, Kuselan team has finally zeroed in on Meena to pair with Pasupathy in Kuselan. Meena is the one who did the original in Malayalam.

Expressing satisfaction over the decision, director P.Vasu said that he was impressed with Meena’s portrayal of a middle-aged mother in Katha Parayumbol and he is glad that she agreed to play the same role in Tamil too.

Kamal and Ajith in Kuselan
Industry sources claim that Kamal and Ajith have agreed to appear in a song sequence in Kuselan. As everyone knows by now, Rajini does a super star role in the movie Kuselan. So we are guessing the super actors will show up as themselves in the movie.
Kamal and Ajith are part of the huge cast that have agreed to do guest roles in the movie. Other stars who have consented to act are Sathyaraj, Arjun and Vikram. Interestingly Vijay does not appear in this list. May be the movie does not fit into his 9 to 5 schedule? Alright, we are only kidding. It is believed he has been approached and neither consented to appear nor turned it down. We will keep you updated.
The telugu version will have Mahesh Babu, Chiranjeevi and Nagarjuna in it.
The recent mega hit Shahrukh’s Om Shanti Om had a similar song sequence in which many popular stars appeared. Perhaps Vasu was inspired by that movie. The one difference we notice is that the hindi version had many retired and semi-retired stars, but Kuselan will have all contemporary stars.
It looks like Vasu is treading carefully by using all tried-and-true tactics, instead of doing something original. Good luck to him.

Robot is Iyanthiraa now?
Some news portals reported that Robot has been rechristened Iyanthiraa. However there is no official word from the production company or the crew.
Interestingly we noticed in some of the internet forums many people are asking what Iyanthiraa means. Iyanthiram means machine in tamil. By changing Iyanthiram to Iyanthiran, it adds a human dimension to it. So we are given to understand that a machine with human tendencies can be termed as Iyanthiran. This word has all the hallmarks of inimitable Sujatha! It is an interesting name that sure to kindle some curiosity. It is novel, unique, trendy and catchy and we really love it.
But is it really a tamil name? Sujatha is an authority in coining Tamil equivalents of familiar and popular English words. However it takes time, sometimes few years for some new words to enter people’s vocabulary after which it becomes like a normal word. Until then, it is going to be hard for people to recognize a name. It will continue to be a marketing nightmare for the movie makers. Secondly, will the Tamilnadu government recognize this as a Tamil name for the purpose of tax exemption? But then, the government does not seem to have any hard and fast rules to determine if a word is really a tamil word. A case in point: Sivaji and Dasavatharam are not tamil words.
Some may argue that for a Super Star’s movie, title is of least significance. A Rajini’s movie is a Raini’s movie no matter what you choose to call it. I have no choice except to agree with you on it. I recall when Chandramukhi was announced it created a mini-controversy that Rajini chose to act in a movie titled after the movie’s lead female character. Needless to say, that the movie went on to break all records making that argument completely baseless. If the movie was named Vettaiyan do you think that the results would have been different? We think not.
When the title Sandiyar created a huge controversy, Kamal Hassan gave in and changed the title of the movie as Virumaandi. That time he said in an interview a title of the movie has very little to do with the movie itself. For example, he could even name the movie as “Kamal 2004″ and it is neither going to change the substance of the movie nor the results would be any different.
“Kamal 2004″??? That would be outrageous, but we see your point Sir!

Kuselan is based on Rajini’s real life
Though the theme of Kuselan is based on Katha Parayum Pol, it is learnt that the script is changed to suit the Super Star’s early days in real life. Infact the most touching factor of this story for Rajini is that he found many scenes of the original movie resembled his personal life. The story of Kuselan would revolve around his friends and in all probabilities the place of the story would be Bangalore.
Scheduled for release in August, the movie would see Nayanthara don the role of a co-artist and not as SS’s pair. Also, since Rajini is set to do the Super Star role itself on the screen, there is a chance for some of his fans to appear in a scene with him. Who is going to be those lucky guys-gals ?

Stars galore in Kuselan
Day in and day out the news on Kuselan just puring in. Latest is that the Director (Vasu) has approached Kamal with a request to appear in a scene in the movie. If the recent reports are to be beleived, it is not just Kamal but many leading stars of the Tamil film world are to appear together in that specific scene. Absolutely needless to mention the details of the scene which is nothing but a facilitation ceremony of the Super Star who plays the same role in the movie.
Meanwhile, the possibility of Simran’s pairing up with Pasupathy has surfaced again.
Earlier it was ‘rumoured’ that Simran’s “unacceptable conditions” made director P. Vasu to look for other choices. Now it is learnt that Simran is very much interested in the project. She could not allot the required dates for ‘Kuselan’, as she was committed to act in a TV serial for Jaya TV.
Meanwhile, Vasu tried to rope in Tabu, but that couldn’t be materialized. Then he came back Simran and asked her to give just 15 days of call sheet. Simran was quite pleased to accept the offer and decided to talk with the concerned parties. It is believed that she would get the nod from the producers of the TV serial.
