Rajini goes to Vietnam
Rajini is all set to fly to Vietnam. He is going there to participate in Sultan the Warrior film shoot. He is wrapping up Kuselan in Alapuzha, Kerala. Once that is complete he is likely to participate in another grueling schedule for Sultan. After that he is going to take a short break at Himalayas and will be back when Robot starts rolling in August.

How long it has been since Rajini did movies back to back? This guy gets bolder when he gets older.

Cinema…Cinemathaan…
Finally some news from Kuselan camp. Songs are being canned at a frenzy pace in Hyderabad. Rajini’s introductory song starting Cinema, Cinemathaan was shot with over 1000 co-artistes taking part. This song will feature Rajini in a flying horse.

The Punjabi pop icon Daler Mahendi will be lending his voice for Rajini for another song “Perinba Pechukkaran”. This song will be shot at Allepey. Daler Mahendi is one of the most sought after singers in Bollywood. He is so famous that A.R.Rehman wanted to use his voice in few of his Tamil songs, which he kept refusing. G.V.Prakash somehow managed to cajole Daler to sing for Rajini.
Watch for G.V.Prakash & Daler recording for Rajini in the video panel.

Rajini’s Humor
The Telugu version of Kuselan was formally launched in a star studded function in Hyderabad. The function took place at Hyderabad’s opulent convention center Hitex. This event was well attended by who’s who of Telugu filmdom. Some prominent personalities that attended the function were Telugu Mega Star Chiranjeevi, Venkatesh, Ram Charan, Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Mr.ChandraBabu Naidu, Union Minister Mr.Dasari Narayana Rao.
This function turned out to be an spectacular extravaganza with formal sit-down dinner served complete with wine. Those who spoke on the occasion heaped praise on the producer of the movie and owner of Vyjayanthi movies Mr. Aswini Dutt. Though Aswini is popular in Hyderabad for organizing such trendy events and his marketing abilities, this particular one exceeded his own standards.

The Super Star was in quite a humorous mood, I would say. He seemed to enjoy the company and the attention he was getting. He recalled an incident where his friend Mohan Babu suggested that Rajini should stick to Tamil movies. Though he didn’t mention him by name but chose to refer him as his best friend, it was an easy guess for everyone that Rajini was talking about Mohan Babu. He said at a time when he was shuttling between Chennai and Hyderabad for acting in Tamil and Telugu movies simultaneously, Mohan Babu pointed out the ugly politics that is rampant in Telugu movie industry and he suggested it is better that Rajini concentrates on Tamil movies only. At one point, a prominent producer wanted to cast Rajini as a hero in a Telugu movie for which he was going to give 1.5 acres of land in Hyderabad’s Jubilee Hills area as his remuneration. That was several years ago and Mohan Babu said it was such a cheap place and that producer is cheating Rajini by giving him land in a worthless area. Recalling this incident, Rajini said, “I think my friend thought I would be a threat to his popularity in Telugu cinema, that he wanted to keep me away from Telugu movies!”. At once the entire audience burst into laughter. FYI, Jubilee Hills is Hyderabad’s most expensive neighborhood and an acre there costs several crores now.
The Telugu version of Katha Parayambol is directed by P.Vasu as well. The barber’s role goes to Jagapati Babu. Guess what is the title of the Telugu version? Thats right, it is ‘Kucheludu’.

Kuselan to start rolling from today
Director P Vasu has officially announced that the shoot of Kuselan would start from today (7th March). The inaugural pooja is set to be conducted, as usual with all Rajini films, in the temple of Lord Ganesha in AVM studios.
The delay in commencement of the shoot was mainly due to the conflict over the director’s wish of changing the original script to suit Rajini, which didn’t go well with the Super Star. He didn’t want to make any change to the original Malayalam script and is learnt to have offere call-sheet of only 15 days for this film. The conflict has since been settled and the film goes for shoot from today.
All the actors, including Nayan Thara and Meena are set to attend the inaugural pooja, which is scheduled between 9.30 to 10.30 am today. The venue of the pooja was changed from Ramoji Rao film city in Hyderabad to AVM Studios in Chennai to make it convenient to Rajini.

Vadivelu in Kuselan; Vivek out
Vadivelu has been signed up to do the comedy part in Kuselan. Vivek was supposed to have done the role, but now as per official sources, the role goes to Vadivelu. The official reason given is that Vivek is having scheduling conflicts due to his commitments to other movies.
This reason is really funny. In the last three years, Vivek was seen in only a handful of movies. Even though his comedy track in Sivaji was a super duper hit, that did not seem to help his career in any way. In such circumstances, it is absurd to think that Vivek chose not to act in Kuselan due to time constraints. There’s got to be some other reason. Did he upset the super star by impersonating him in his latest movies?
Both Vadivelu and Vivek are very talented, although their comedy styles are distinct. While slapstick is Vadivelu’s forte, Vivek is a king of satire. As for as Kuselan is concerned, as we mentioned here before, we think Vadivelu would suit the the movie better than Vivek. Can Vadivelu repeat the magic of Chandramukhi? Lets wait and watch.

Kuselan’s music is by G.V.Prakash
It was sort of a surprise for many. G.V.Prakash has been chosen to do the music for Kuselan. Many expected Vidyasagar to be roped in, because his songs were a big plus for the team’s last collaboration Chandramukhi. He has been consistently giving quality music which turn out to be moderate hits. It was briefly rumored that Deva would do the score although it later turn out to be just rumors. Finally the hot and happening G.V.Prakash’s name has been announced and in fact Vasu and Prakash have been busy shortlisting situations and tunes for the movie.

We predict a big future for G.V.Prakash. He is no one movie wonder. Movie after movie he is proving that he has what it takes. Sure he is no Ilayaraja or A.R.Rehman, but he works very hard to stand out in the crowd. One of his recently releases I personally liked was Polladhavan. Be it a quiet melody “Minnalgal Koothadum” or the rap remix of “Engeyum Eppothum” or the unavoidable kuthu song “Padichu Parthen” or foot tapping number “Alibaba Thangam”, G.V.Prakash has shown an excellent variety while being trendy.
We wish him good luck for his future and a special one for Kuselan.

Is Kuselan storyline being changed?
Some vernacular media reported today that P.Vasu is making heavy changes in the screenplay of the movie to suit Rajini’s image and his massive fan base. These magazines further reported that Rajini is not quite happy about these changes and that is one of the reasons the commencement of the movie is delayed. It may be recalled that the movie was supposed to go to floors today, the 15th of February.
In the original movie Mamooty comes in only few scenes and still made a lasting impact on the movie. One of the main reasons why Rajini liked the movie was its storyline and its simple treatment. Rajini seems to be concerned that any major changes to the script might rob the soul of the movie.
Reacting to the news reports P.Vasu said he is indeed making changes to the script and he wants to make a Rajini movie not a movie where Rajini plays a guest role. He said that although Rajini was initially apprehensive about it, now he is clearly convinced. However the script is not finalized and once it is finalized the shooting will commence only after obtaining Rajini’s approval, said P.Vasu.
There are also other industry reports that suggest that Aiyngaran is keen in starting the work on Robot earlier than planned. If that news is true, it is going to cause a conflict with Kuselan’s schedule for sure. Lets see how both the teams work it out.

Vivek in Kuselan
News sources confirmed that Vivek has been roped in for Kuselan. This news comes in as a surprise for many including us. We were hoping that this movie will repeat the unforgettable moments of Rajini-Vadivelu combo from their earlier venture Chandramukhi. Moreover Kuselan is a movie with a rural background; so we thought Vadivelu would make a better companion than Vivek. However it comes as a surprise that Vivek is indeed the chosen one.

Why Vivek was chosen? There are atleast two versions of the story doing the rounds. The first one is the box office disaster that Vadivelu’s Indiralogathil… is going through. In the other version of the story, Rajini seems to be more than impressed with Vivek’s contribution to Sivaji’s success. So he felt Vivek would bring in more value to Kuselan than Vadivelu.
Vivek was fantastic in Sivaji. We are sure he would bring the same magic to Kuselan as well. Congratulations Vivek!

SRK’s revenge on Rajini!
Having lost Robot to Rajini, Shahrukh Khan decides to get even with the Super Star. Katha Parayumbol is being remade in Hindi and Shahrukh plays the role that Rajini plays in Tamil. Ok, we are only joking. It is perhaps just a coincidence.

Priyadarshan is popularly known as remake specialist of Hindi Cinema. He usually buys the rights of successful Tamil/Malayalam movies and adapts the screenplay to suit Hindi audience. Some of his notable remakes are Rajini’s Chandramuki and Kamal’s Devar Magan.
Shahrukh’s Red Chillies Entertainment will be producing this yet unnamed movie. Remaining cast have not been decided.

Not Simran, not Tabu, it is Meena in Kuselan!
After going back and forth between Simran and Tabu, Kuselan team has finally zeroed in on Meena to pair with Pasupathy in Kuselan. Meena is the one who did the original in Malayalam.

Expressing satisfaction over the decision, director P.Vasu said that he was impressed with Meena’s portrayal of a middle-aged mother in Katha Parayumbol and he is glad that she agreed to play the same role in Tamil too.
